  • Illustration of low, round huts with a person walking through them. Caption: Arriving home, Moko saw that the moon was there in the sky.

Moko is an explorer. As he travels the world continent by continent, he makes many friends and discovers many natural phenomena which sometimes delight him, and other times scare him. Each animated episode recounts an adventure and takes an "original story" approach to explaining these natural phenomena. In this episode, Moko wonders why the moon changes shape so often. Sometimes, when he sees the moon rising in the distance like the sun, he thinks that by walking towards the horizon he could get closer and find out more. That way he could even ask the moon itself. During his long walk towards the ever-receding horizon, Moko watches the moon constantly changing shape. Sometimes it's a crescent like a smile, sometimes a disc of light; sometimes it's white, sometimes yellowish. It travels across the sky but you can't see it moving. One night, Moko decides to watch the moon perform its lovely dance among the stars. He figures he'll never reach the horizon, and in fact maybe the moon just wants to put on a show, to be watched more often.

  • Illustration of an arm extended and energy cycling through the forearm. Energy continues out through the tips of the fingers. A wire intersects the hand, and an arrow indicates movement to the right. Caption: exerted on the conducting wire.

Part of the "A 3-D Demonstration" series. Explores the basic principles behind the operation of AC and DC motors. Explains how one or more fixed magnets, either permanent or electromagnetic, can cause linear movement or rotation of a current-carrying wire. A hand rule is developed to predict motor force. Motor torque is explained as a prelude to the practical design of a direct current motor. Specific modules include Motors and Magnets, Current and Magnet Interaction, Left-Hand Rule, Motor Force, Motor Torque, and DC Motors. Correlates to all National CTE Organizational Standards (including the provisions of the Perkins Act).

One morning, a terrible sound shakes the village and as they wonder where it is coming from they see a wave of mud streaming down the mountain and threatening to swallow up the village. Moko approaches the wave of mud and pleads with it to keep the village safe. He remembers that Mei Lei knew how to speak to mountains and takes out the stone she gave him and is about to offer it to the mud as Mei Lei had offered hers to the volcano but Totemie stops him and offers her necklace instead. The village is saved and the mudslide flows into the lake. Moko promises himself to one day give Totemie what is dearest to him.
